What information is needed to book a call?

Prior to the call, have the following details ready for every patient that requires an after hours consultation:

  • Contact phone number (note: the Doctor will call this number on arrival)
  • Patient’s name
  • Patients date of birth
  • Medicare number
  • Patient’s GP and Practice name
  • Description of the location of the patient at your facility, including instructions on how to access the facility
  • Details of the patient’s illness

How are waiting times determined?

Once a call has been logged, an after hours doctor will be allocated to attend to the patient. Waiting times apply and will depend on the location, clinical urgency and call volume.

Why do I need to leave a return phone number?

A return telephone number is important so that the doctor can make contact prior to arrival to arrange access to the patient.

What should I do if the patient’s condition changes?

Please call us on 13 7425 so that we can make alternative arrangements if necessary.

Can I book in more than one patient at a time?

Yes, you can book as many patients in as necessary. Please ensure you have their names, DOB, Medicare numbers, their GP’s name and their symptoms handy.

Can the after hours Doctor see any additional patients that have not been booked in once they arrive?
